Announcing: ABQ RANBATS SEASON 2

What is a ranbat?
Ranbat is short for Ranking Battle. In which we do a series of tournaments where the top placers get points toward their overall standing. After several tournaments, the player with the most points wins a prize. And for ours is a trip to cali to compete in a major tourney and to check out there scene. Season 2 ranbats will go up to 9 tournaments with the first one starting on September 5th.

How will the point system work?
We will give out points to top 8 for super street fighter IV and top 3 for Tekken 6. Below is a breakdown of the point system.

2nd (+7 Points)
3rd (+6 Points)
4th (+5 Points)
5th (+4 Points)
5th (+4 Points)
7th (+3 Points)
7th (+3 Points)

Tekken 6
1st (3+ points)
2nd (2+ points)
3rd (1+ points)

But please be advise THE PRIZE TO CALI IS ONLY FOR SUPER STREET FIGHTER IV. The point system for tekken 6 is only for funsies.

Playstation 3 for every game.

Whats the price for each tournament?
$5 for each ssf4 and t6. So, if you wanna do both it'll be $10
Payout for each tournament will be 70/20/10


Tournament Rules

SSFIV
Best 2/3 rounds, best out of 2/3 games. Winners, Losers, and Grand finals will be best 3/5 games. 99 Seconds, no handicap changes.
Winner must keep the same character, but can select a new ultra in game 2 or 3, but has to pick the ultra before the opponent picks theirs. Losers can change character and ultra.

Tekken 6
Best 3/5 rounds, best 2/3 games. Winners, Losers, and Grand finals will be best 3/5 games. 60 seconds.
If the 1st stage of the 1st game cannot be agreed on by both players, stage will be picked randomly. Winner keeps same character. But losers can pick another character and any stage they wish to play on.

And if you can, please bring your own controller. ABQRANBATS will not be supplying controllers. But you can always ask somewhere there if there willing to lend you theres!

Free Tournament
Each week we'll hold a free tournament for a game I pick out. The game will be announced here on this site and the other affiliated site for ABQRANBATS. The 1st place winner of each tournament will gain a free entry into there tournament of choice ssf4 or t6!

ABQ Fighting Game events August 28-29

Yo ABQ! we got two hot events this weekend, with players coming from as far as El Paso. First up on Saturday night is ZACHBATS: The fighting game party, and sunday afternoon is the final of this season's ABQ Ran Bats.

You may be wondering what a 'Ran-Bat' is. It is a series of tournaments that are used to rank members of a local fighting game community, or a Ranking Battle. Ran Bats are 5$ per game per session, and the points carry over from each battle. at the end of the season there is a grand prize for the top placing fighter. Ran Bats are held most Sunday's at straight up pizza in the heights.

ZACHBATS is the fighting game themed party i'm throwing at my place on saturday. We have at least 20 confirmed guests, and its sure to be a big event! Games will start at 7, tournament at 8:30. Main tournament's (Super SFIV and Tekken 6) are 5$ dollars each, and there will be side tournies of older games for a 1$ or less. So you're here, what does that mean? It means you like to play Fighting games and live in NM. Here at ABQFGS we will give you the run down of where and when you can get your fight on. You will find a complete schedule of tournaments in NM and in the Southwestern region, you'll find the list of all the game currently playing in the Las Lunas arcade TNW, you'll find links to all of the most important resources in the fighting game community, and you'll be able to get in touch with all of New Mexico's finest players. Welcome to the Albuquerque Fighting Game Scene Blog. Please bear with us while we get all of the bugs and kinks worked out as well as all of the features we plan to implement.
